Dance Faculty
Doug Shankman
Doug Shankman is the artistic director of contemporary dance arts which
is dedicated to creating new works for the dance theater. As a
performer, he has worked as tap dancer with Gregory Hines and
DancEllington. As a musical theater performer, Doug was seen in the
national tours of A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, Singin' in the Rain and
My One and Only. Currenlty, Mr. Shankman is choreographing and
directing for several regional theaters throughout the United States.
Favorite productions include: Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, Crazy For
You, Follies and Peter Pan. As a dance teacher, Doug id decicated to
educating our young artists in the art of dance has worked through out
the United States and Canada teaching classes in Contemporary Dance,
Tap Dance and Musical Theater. Currenlty, Doug is developing a new
musical play which will workshop later this year and has been
comissioned to create a new ballet entitled, Atlan which explores the
myths and legends of the lost continent-island of Atlantis.
